BRONX - Bim De La Disco Guestmix

Tracklist is under the interview

1- You are one of the young stars of disco scene and please tell us when and how you decided to make music and what’s the story behind your stage name Bronx?
I started to be in music when I was like 14, at that time I was so iterested in punk and rock music; so I saved some money and bought a drum set. Then my family decided to move to another place but there wasn't more room space for my drums; therefore I bought a guitar and begin to learn how to play. I've never had the chance to take music lessons so I've learned a few things on my own. When I was just playing guitar, I started to feel a bit boring and searched for a software to make drum beats and play them along with the guitar. By this means I learned how to programing simple beats, when that wasn't enough for me, I wanted more sophisticated software to make better beats, i looked for a new one, when I discovered my favorite DAW, Ableton Live as time passed by I got more and more into the electronic music, discovered totally new genres of music for me, like psy-trance (i'm not into that music anymore! jeje) and electro. When I was at 16, I started to my project Grand Letter F, influenced by producers like Designer Drugs, MSTRKRFT, Le Castle Vania and labels like Ed Banger or Dim Mak. The project has end when I discovered and fell in love to House/Disco music and all the less uptempo and more melodic music is the time that BRONX started. Why BRONX? I've always been in love with NYC so I decided that my stage name would be something related to NY.

2- At first we listened you with your funky disco song “Somebody ” and after a reinterpretation of “Show Me Love” by Robin Stone. For us your huger rising happened with your EP and song named “I’ll Be Loving You” which includes the vocal samples of Mariah Carey’s “I’ll Be Lovin’ You Long Time”. How long it takes to produce such a dreamy tropical balearic nu disco bomb and can you tell us about the production process?  Who discovered and supported you firstly?
"Somebody" and the rework of "Show Me Love" (which by the way reached #17 on Hype Machine) where well received by many blogs. About "I'll Be Loving You" where when all this really begin to grow, I was working on it and also on "Burnin' Up" at the same time, my first idea was to give for free I'll Be Loving You (because of the vocal sample), so I sent the track to Xinobi to ask him if he knew someone to did the mastering work. He put me in contact with Jay Lamar and Jesse Oliver and they did the job. When I get the mastered version and before uploaded it to soundcloud sent it to Baptiste (Zimmer), he liked so much the track and he was the first who supported it playing it on one of his now well known Monthly Tapes. I uploaded the track to soundcloud a few days before the Zimmer's tape and I almost start to receive so many e-mails immediately and my inbox full of questions that asking for the track. Many labels asked me if a have some unreleased original material that I wanted to sign and then when I got the e-mail from nurvous at the first time I was like, really? Nurvous is asking me for tracks?, I was really happy when Andrew tell me that he wants so sign an EP so I sent him "Burnin' Up" and he liked and then he ask for "I'll Be Loving You" too, I tell him that the track was unsigned so he decided to sign it too and that's the story behind my EP on Nurvous and all of this is in part thanks to Zimmer for supported my track since the first time, thanks Bap! ;)

About my production process, I usually start a track with the idea to recreate a feeling, a soundtrack for something, for somewhere, for someone; maybe for a time at the beach, for normal day walking down the street, for a party at the 2 a.m, could be for anything and from that start to building the track, almost always with a drum beat, and the some piano chords and a few melodies, something is a fact on my production process; if I have a good beat and a good bass that i feel happy with the rest of the song comes very naturally.

3- As Bim De La Disco, our motto is “Palm Tunes, Happy Tunes” and we feel that your incredible deeper sexy vibes correspond to our motto. We feel that we are lying down on a sunbed, or chilling on a hammock and drink fresh cocktails, while we are listening your refreshing summer sounds. How do you describe your sound and what is your process and source of influence while you are producing music?
The inspiration comes from so many things and places… It could be from a simple color, from a day on downtown, from the people around me; a party, from many kinds of music and sounds, one my of my biggest fount of inspiration is the sunset and the sunrise. I think the feel of seeing the sun is always good for me, my music and as you said it is always reflected on my tracks; summer time all the time!

4- You remixed Roman, Lou Teti; Chordashian, Miss Bee and lastly Patterns. What’s your favorite one and how do you decide to remix a song, can you explain what’s your aim and feelings before you started to remix a song?
Would be very hard to pick only one favorite, each and everyone is special for me, maybe some of them are a bit more. Probably because of the musical approach that the track could have or maybe a remix for some producer or singer that I'm a big fan of like in the case of the remix for Lou Teti and the one for Miss Bee. Since I started my BRONX Project I've always loved to work of both of them.

First of all for accepting to make a remix I have to feel something from the original song or hear something that I can work with, that's all. I don't care about the label or the producer (and of course, the time that label give me to finish it jee), if the song is good I'm in! It's all about music!

5- We are under the impression that you are living on a tropical island and chilling at the beach all day because of your flawless tropic melodies. Can you tell us about Aguascalientes, city where you live; your daily life and how do you spent your time out of producing music? Which is the comfortable place for listening your music?
Hahaha! Musical production vacations on a tropical island would be awesome! But for now my bedroom is the only place I have to produce music (unfortunately) jeje, Aguascalientes is a small city, nothing compared (in any aspect) with the biggest cities we have here in México, like Guadalajara, Monterrey or México City. Here is a great place to live a quiet life, people are nice and the city is pretty but the EDM scene is very small yet, not so many clubs and only a few good events.

My daily life start at the 6 in the morning when i woke up, going to the university then I like to read a lot in my house, being on my bedroom producing tracks, working on the remixes i have on process, or just playing around guitar or looking for good sounds. I'm not always in the mood to produce music, somedays at night i go to the gym and the cycle starts again. The weekends are more exiting, these are the days I can see my friends, go out for drinking beers, do some gigs or play at Caferoma (the local club where i have a DJ residence)

The best place to hear my music? I think anywhere is a good place, but if have to choose one at the city, would be at some downtown park, feeling the wind and drinking a beer!

6- In recent years Mexico introduced to disco scene talented producers such as You, Bufi, Future Feelings, Avanti, La Royale… What do you think about the disco scene in Mexico?
I'm so exited about that! The nu disco scene in México is getting bigger and bigger and not only disco but all the EDM in general, as you said, artist like La Royale (which recently did an awesome gig on Aguascalientes), Bufi, Rubinskee, Juan Soto, Future Feelings, Avanti, Andre VII, Zombies In Miami (from Aguascalientes too), Climbers, Balcazar and Sordo, Damian Uzabiaga and labels like Electrique Music, MEXA, Neim, Akbal and others great producers and labels are putting México on the map. This new Mexican wave is full of amazing talents and I'm very sure in the near future México would be a reference of what it comes to dance music.

7- You released four song EP called “Tropical Love” at the end of 2012 from the label “On The Prowl” that curated by Marcos Cabral and Jacques Renault. What’ your next step and future plan; can you give us some clue about your forthcoming EP?
Yeah, actually that EP was planned like almost 2 years ago, even before any of my remixes or original tracks, three of those four tracks where my first tracks, the other track named "If You" was produced last year.
Whats next? Zoo many exiting things and projects!! First of them, my upcoming Sundays EP (yeah! Bim De La Disco have the exclusive haha) including two original new tracks those written on the last six months of 2012 between all the remix work I did last year. As I was told you they’ll be totally for free download, I don't have the date of the release because I'm in talks to see if I release it via some label, I think by the end of March you all will get for free.

I'm working on a new EP, these new tracks that I'm working on are a bit different from the stuff I've been releasing, those are more uptempo and dance floor focused, less nu disco and more house, lots of pianos (as you can hear in almost all my songs, I Looove the sound of the piano!! jeje) and that's all I can say for now about the new original stuff.

A remix for one of my all time favorite labels Under The Shade and keep sending demos and looking to sign new tracks on different labels that i'm fan of. Also I'm planning my first mini U.S tour for this summer, very exiting stuff is coming up in the next months!

8- When do you feel comfortable; while you are DJing or producing? With whom do you want to play most and which names do you want to remix at most? Can you tell us your influences?
Both things have their own special feeling but I think I rather to be in the studio, I feel more comfortable while producing music. My musical influences comes from everywhere, I listen to a lot of rock music, from classic rock to indie, blues, some Hip Hop, R&B, Soul, the early disco music, funk, also I like hard rock,

9- Do you remember; when was your first night in a club?
